Certains groupes organiques peuvent être utilisés pour relier entre elles plusieurs de ces chaines (...-Si-O-...). Le type le plus courant est le poly(diméthylsiloxane) linéaire ou PDMS. Le second groupe en importance de matériaux en silicone est celui des résines de silicone, formées par des oligosiloxanes ramifiés ou en forme de cage (wiki).

The silicone-based powder coatings are used, as they provide excellent thermal properties and adhesion, which open up further profitable uses.
Without suitable coatings, the surfaces of most metals would be vulnerable to mecanical, thermical and chemical attack. Surface coatings therefore play an important protecting role. In view of the continually widening spectrum of applications - for example in transport, manufacturing or the household - ever more robust coating systems are required. This is particularly true of resistance to extreme heat and cold.
Silicone resins have key properties that make them equal to the growing demands. Their inorganic backbone of alternating silicon and oxygen atoms make silicone resins clearly superior to most organic resins.
Silres silicone resins forom Wacker Silicones are a good case in point. As binders combined with pigments in paints and insdustrial coatings, they defy temperatures of up to 650°C without losing their adhesive proeprties. They are also resistant to UV, weathering and solvents, have excellent colour fastness and can be blended readily with a number of organic binders.
Silres silicone resins have, therefore, been able to establish a presence in many applications where organic resins would be out of the question for thermal reasons. This applies particularly to automotive exhaust systems, aerospace heat shields and jet engines but also to various exterior coatings in the chemical industry or on baking trays, ovens and barbecues. |
