Modified alkyd emulsions provide effective application properties for stain blocking wall paints.
Modified alkyd emulsions provide effective application properties for stain blocking wall paints.
Due to modern ecological and employment protection guidelines, solvent-based paints became more and more under pressure and already have strict legal requirements in certain countries. In the European Community eg the approved volatile organic compounds, VOC, content is limited for several types of deco paints in which the term volatile organic substances includes all solvents with a boiling point below 250°C at standard pressure. Interior wall paints, for example, have an upper limit of 30g/lit resp 100g/lit, depending on the gloss level. According to those requirements, the legal Omit values can only be fulfilled with water-based systems. But even without legislation water-based systems have big advantages in comparison to solvent-based types as they provide a lower smell level and are non-inflammable. |
