Résumé : |
Positive and negative attributes for dry film biocide actives and how the negative aspects can be overcome.
The coatings industry is continually searching for effective broad spectrum biocide actives that are compilant with legislation, approved by consumer organisations and which pose low mammalien and environmental toxicity, whilst maintaining a sustainable or improved cost : performance ratio. All dry film biocide actives have positive and negative attributes, and 2-n-octy1-4- isothiazolin-3-one (OIT) is no exception. The advantage of its broad spectrum efficacy at low concentration is undermined by its relatively high water solubility and cautionary labelling issues/restrictions.
Thor's Advanced Micro Matrix Embedding (AMMEne) technology is able to overcome all of the negative attributes of OIT (and other relevant molecules) to meet or surpass regulatory restrictions, as well as to enhance its performance in application. This makes the molecule more versatile and safer to use for the coatings manufacturer, end-user and the environment. Although the technology has successfully been in commercial use for more than 10 years, continuous refinements provide more choices for differing coating compositions or performance requirements, such as increasing or decreasing the rate cf release to the coating surface. |
