Sustainability is a key challenge. Taking different environmental factors into account, life cycle assessments of products are carried out. One aspect, which has not been a particular focus in the past is the Water Footprint (WF). Clean freshwater is scarce in some countries and sometimes a lot of virtual water is required in order to produce consumer goods. In this ar¬ticle, the WF of personal care products will be emphasised The focus is on stages of the life cycle, which involve the largest amounts of water. |
