Résumé : |
In the previous chapter we saw the historical information regarding Pigments and how it came into existence and used in Paints. Now let's see the classifications of Pigments.
It is not sufficient for the artist to learn merely the general outline rules about pigments or to be familiar with them. Because of the wide variation in their individual behaviours and properties, each one must be noted by itself, and its relative position in the general classification must be learned. The most satisfactory way to classify a pigment is according to its source, because most of the significant properties which any pigment groups may have in common can be attributed to their composition. All point pigments are manufactured products ; regardless of whether they are obtained from natural or artificial sources, they will never be satisfactory unless they have been carefully prepared by expert methods. |
