Index. décimale : 620.19 Autres matériaux Résumé : Cost-effective processing of thermoplastic composites has made them increasingly relevant for use in structural and high-performance applications. Welding contributes to reducing manufacturing costs and overcomes some of the drawbacks of traditional composite joining techniques. In ultrasonic welding, heat is generated through surface and intermolecular friction caused by ultrasonic vibration transferred through the material. Several parameters are involved in the welding process, affecting energy, time, power consumption and the quality of the weld. An optimization was carried out for melting time, welding power and single-lap shear strength of the welds. Design of experiments (DoE) was used in order to reduce the number of tests needed for the optimization. An initial study was carried out, defining the tendencies of these responses as well as plausible parameter limits for the designed experiment. Note de contenu : - Threshold for the DoE

These high-modulus, high-strength materials are part of LNP's Thermocomp* product line. The development of an aircraft food tray described here is an example of what can be achieved using these materials.
