Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 668.9 Polymères Résumé : The influence of content and aspect ratio of whiskers, calcium carbonate and aluminum borate, on the morphology evolution of liquid crystalline polymer (LCP) was investigated in polysulfone (PSF) matrix. The study showed that the deformation of LCP droplets was significantly promoted by adding whiskers into PSF/LCP blends, and the longer whisker produced a more pronounced fibrillation effect. The analysis of flow field and elasticity of system showed that the addition of longer whiskers increased the elasticity of materials more efficiently and enhanced the vortex in the converging flow area at the entry of capillary, which resulted in an increase of the elongational stress and promoted the formation of longer LCP fibrils in PSF/whisker system. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 668.9 Polymères Résumé : In-situ hybrid composites containing matrix polycarbonate, glass fiber and LCP are prepared. The morphology of LCP and the rheological behavior of the composites are described. The relationship between flowability and morphology is discussed. It is interesting to find that in some hybrid systems, composites containing more glass fiber have better flowability than composites containing less glass fiber. Glass fiber aspect ratio is an important factor that determines the flowability. Materials with short glass fiber have lower viscosities than the materials with long glass fiber. LCP morphology is another important parameter that determines the flowability of the composites. If LCP forms fibrils, the composites have better flowability. If spheres dominate the morphology of LCP, the materials have larger viscosity. The addition of glass fiber brings about new factors that influence the morphology of LCP. The LCP morphology is not only affected by LCP content, but also by glass fiber content and glass fiber length. LCP fibrils are promoted in some in-situ hybrid composites. A model is proposed to describe how fibrillation of LCP is promoted due to the addition of glass fiber DOI : 10.3139/217.1716 En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/15xKO4djAM7tuKucLP7HGKWPi5zsf5bzM/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=15845

The results showed that liquid Sn separated when the Sn content was higher than approximately 2?% by volume because of the interfacial tension of up to 167?mN/m and the 106-fold viscosity difference between the liquid Sn and the molten polyethylene. When Sn separation did not occur, the effects of the mixing time and rotary speed on the degree of mixing and the Sn particle size were analyzed using thermogravimetric analysis and scanning electron microscopy. The results showed that the effects of mixing time and rotary speed on the degree of mixing and Sn particle size can be combined as the impact of specific energy input. With increasing specific energy input, the degree of mixing initially increased and subsequently remained constant, while the Sn particle size initially decreased and subsequently remained constant. The refinement of the dispersed phase was completed with a low specific energy input, but the homogenization of the dispersed phase required a higher specific energy input to achieve completion, revealing the relationship between distributive mixing and dispersive mixing.
