As an animal biomass resource, collagen not only has rich sources, but is also an important component of animal skins. In this study, structure and functional characteristics of collagen are summarized. The lastest achievements on molecular assembly modifying methods for collagen cross-linking, groups, and graft copolymerization modifications are reviewed. The applications of modified collagen in the fields of leathers, papermaking, cosmetics, biomedical material and food industry ect. are summarized. In addition, the prospect of its application in the leather industry is stated. |
