Résumé : |
Several methodologies are available to evaluate the efficacy of in-can preservatives also known as wet-stat industrial biocides. They are intented to prevent microbial spoilage of waterbased paints. Test conditions - including the inoculum type, the concentration and the sampling schedule - differ among these methodologies. The results obtained using the different methodologies may not be in agreement. A set of conditions considered to be critical for in-can efficacy test design is recommended after reviewing the different methodologies. In-can efficacy evaluations that incorporate the conditions described above yield realistic biocide and biocide use-level recommendations. |
