Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Lyophobic dispersions of film forming oligomers and polymers is a large group of heterophase binders, which includes emulsions, plastigels, latexes and various hybrid systems. As for pre-sent paint technology, the interest in oligomer emulsions and plastigels fades, whereas synthetic and artificial latexes and hybrid binders play more and more important roles. This paper, the 3rd of the series, is a brief description of colloid fundamentals of emulsions and latexes. Majority of their technical characteristics and their behavior in technological processes are closely dependent on their colloid stability. Stability of and coagulation in lyophobic polymer dispersions, heavily studied and still quite controversial issues in colloid chemistry, are disclosed here briefly and rather qualitatively, aiming to provide readers with the main colloid concepts, useful in the technology and formulation of resin emulsions, polymer latexes and emulsion paints. Gaboury, Auteur Année de publication : 1997 Article en page(s) : p. 624-626 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : A new class of VF2/HFP copolymers, termed heterogeneous copolymers, has recently been synthesized and tested in organic dispersion coatings. These polymers offer many of the well known advantages of PVDF in organic coatings but with additional benefits due to their unique polymer microstructure. A general discussion of polymer properties is covered, along with a study conducted to compare coatings prepared from PVDF homopolymers, random VF2/HFP copolymers, and heterogeneous VF2/HFP copoly-mers. Note de contenu : - PVDF homopolymer and random VF2/HFP copolymer properties
- Heterogeneous VF2/HFP copolymer properties

Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Good adhesion and protective properties of powder coatings depend on the quality of pre-treatment, curing schedule, temperature and duration as well as power pack voltage. With an objective to establish these parameters for a commercial black epoxy powder, the changes in physical properties of its coatings have been studied. A coating of 70 -100 pm thickness is found to have good physical properties when backed as per specified temperature and duration. The scratch hardness, gloss and rocker hardness as well as other properties of the powder coatings were found to be optimum when they were stoved at around 180°C. A duration of 15 minutes for stoving the powder coatings at around 180-190°C is found to result in their optimum properties. In order to have good performance of its coatings the commercial black epoxy powder coat may not be subjected to power packed voltage beyond 70-80 kV. The resistance to hot water, detergents and aromatic solvents has been observed to be very good. Note de contenu : - Experimental
