Peter Cooper Corporation is a large producer of animal glues, and we estimated the animal glue industry is the largest consumer, outside of the leather area, of chrome-tanned hide collagen in the form of trim, splits, and shavings.
Industrial uses of animal glues are varied and depend on some of their unique properties. Currently, the market is stable, but potential uses for glue and protein derived from chrome-tanned hide collagen present opportunity for growth. Economics, including the cost of raw materials and yield of protein, affect the marketability of animal glue and protein in competition with other available materials and adhesives. The animal glue industry represents a significantly large and relatively stable outlet for chrome-tanned hide collagen in the non-leather area. Material available today is generally suitable for use in this field with relatively minor limitations. |
