Poly-B-hydroxybutyrate

Polymères superabsorbantsIndex. décimale : 668.9 Polymères Résumé : Superabsorbent polymers (SAPs) are making waves as versatile materials with the special ability to soak up massive amounts of water. This article takes an in-depth look at recent advances in these materials, examining how they are synthesized, what properties they have and how they could enhance a range of industries. From diapers that keep babies comfy to fields thirsty for irrigation. But like any powerful force, they bring challenges. The ecological footprint is analyzed and a more sustainable future is addressed, with biodegradability and recycling paving the way. The article takes us from the lab bench to the fields and beyond, showing why these tiny water absorbers can play an important role in the future. Note de contenu : - Market size and growth

Upcycling textile products often involves the use of chemical and mechanical recycling. The market acceptance of yarns and products made from mechanically recycled PCW is a major concern because of the products harsh touch and feel, low quality parameters, and poor appearance due to its high short fiber content. There is a wealth of research and review papers available on PCW fiber in blends with cotton and polyester fiber. Continual R&D at TRADC (Textile Research and Application Development Center, Birla Cellulose) serves to enhance the quality parameters of mechanically recycled PCW blended yarn. This research paper reports on the sustainable MMCF (man-made cellulosic fiber) lyocell fiber (Birla Excel) blended with PCW fiber. A study was conducted on the effectivity of fiber length distribution and fiber fineness on yarn quality parameters, lyocell fiber and PCW blended (70:30) ratio. Note de contenu : - Yarn quality

Son -- AbsorptionIndex. décimale : 677.4 Textiles artificiels Résumé : In order to solve the problem of noise pollution, polyurethane (PU) nanofibrous membranes with different structures were prepared by electrospinning. The influence of layer number, single-layer basis weight arrangement and the concentration of MnO2 on the sound absorption performance was investigated. The results show that the sound absorption coefficient of the PU laminated nanofibrous membranes enhances initially and then declines with the increase of the layer numbers, reaching the maximum when the layer number is 8. The overall sound absorption performance of the PU nanofibrous membranes with increasing single-layer basis weight arrangement is better than that of the membranes with decreasing single-layer basis weight arrangement. When the concentration of Mn02 is 2 wt.%, the sound absorption coefficient of the MnO2/PU composite membrane achieves its peak value due to the fine fiber diameter and high porosity. The fibers with 3 different lengths viz. 10, 20 and 30mm length were used for manufacturing the composites. The composites were manufactured with 3 different proportions of fiber to resin namely 3:97, 6:94 and 9:91 corresponding to each length of fiber. The composite properties tensile, flexural, compression strength and water absorption were measured. The mechanical properties tensile, flexural and compression strength increased with the increase in fiber length. It is also observed that with an increase in the proportion of fiber the tensile, flexural and water absorption % have increased. Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL :

Économie circulaireL'économie circulaire est une expression générique désignant un concept économique qui s'inscrit dans le cadre du développement durable et s'inspirant notamment des notions d'économie verte, d’économie de l'usage ou de l'économie de la fonctionnalité, de l'économie de la performance et de l'écologie industrielle (laquelle veut que le déchet d'une industrie soit recyclé en matière première d'une autre industrie ou de la même).
Son objectif est de produire des biens et services tout en limitant fortement la consommation et le gaspillage des matières premières, et des sources d'énergies non renouvelables ;

ViscoseIndex. décimale : 677.4 Textiles artificiels Résumé : In a world where textile fiber production and demands continue to rise, generating a staggering Io° million tons of waste annually, the environmental and economic challenges associated with textile waste have become increasingly evident. This study explores the transformative potential of sustainable developments in acrylic fiber upcycling, focusing on its pivotai role in addressing the textile industry's shift towards a circular economy. Acrylic fiber, constituting 1.3 million tons annually, presents a unique challenge due to its widespread use in multi-material textiles. The research introduces an interesting chemical upcycling technology that is not only overcome the hurdle of fiber blends but also showcases diverse applications for the resulting polyacrylate solution, offering an eco-friendly solution for textile dye processes and contributing to reduced environmental impact. This innovative approach represents a significant step towards a more sustainable and economically viable future for the textile industry, aligning with the principles of zero waste, cost-effectiveness, and environmental efficiency. Textiles et tissus -- RecyclageIndex. décimale : 677.4 Textiles artificiels Résumé : Today elastane is ubiquitous in clothing. From yoga wear to jeans, swimsuits to work suits, this fiber brings comfort, style and fit to a wide variety of garments. However, as the textile and apparel industry move to a more circular business model, some recyclers are struggling to handle fabrics with high elastane content. At the Dornbirn Global Fiber Congress 2023, The Lycra Company reported on the progress they are making to help the industry address this important issue. The results were presented from 2 recent recycling trials with the key stretch fiber offerings Lycra elastane and Lycra T400 fiber. Note de contenu : - Current status of recycling stretch fabrics
