Corrosion protection is a key requirement for steel in numerous applications like automotive, ACE, construction, appliances and metal furniture.
Traditionally the area of corrosion protective paints is dominated bu epoxy-systems (liquid and powder), however to further reduce the usage of bisphenol-A and improve worker safety, there is a trend to lower the amount of epoxy paints used, for instance, by switching to other systems like polyester-based powder coatings. For several years DSM scientists have worked on the development of polyester resins that perform equally well better than current epoxy systems. |
