Résumé : |
Dibenzoates are low VOC/non-SVHC plasticisers that exhibit excellent performance overall in adhesive applications. While the use of cheaper plasticiser alternates may be viable for some applications to reduce the cost of the overall formulation, careful evaluation of physical properties must be conducted in order to determine whether the loss in performance is acceptable. Even a 30% addition of triacetin to a dibenzoate blend can cause a noticeable drop in performance for both homopolymer and copolymer systems. Additionally, the use of TMPDDIB is not advised for homopolymer systems due to its poor compatibility and resulting poor performance. Triacetin and TMPDDIB also demonstrate high volatility, which may become a problem as regulatory bodies take more interest in the VOCs of formulations and articles. The judicial application of these alternates in blends with dibenzoates is key in formulating a low cost adhesive with acceptable performance. |
