Tannage synthétiqueIndex. décimale : 675.2 Préparation du cuir naturel. Tannage Résumé : A urea paraformaldehyde polymer has been synthesized under optimum conditions, for use as a tanning agent. The characteristics and effects of this polymer as a tanning agent were investigated. The tensile strength, elongation at break, tear strength, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), shrinkage temperature, shrinkage area, putrefaction resistance and thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) parameters were studied. Evaluation
ReliureIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : The determination of the overall quality of any type of leather is a subjective assessment depending primarily on the end use to which it will be put. This applies as much to the assessment of bookbinding leathers as to any other material. If one asks a number of bookbinders what makes a good leather, at first sight they each seem to have a different opinion. However, on closer examination these differences appear to arise from how people describe what are complex subjective characteristics rather than actual discrepancies themselves. Individual bookbinders all have personal aesthetic preferences which are associated with the type of grain pattern, colour and the presence or absence of minor surface blemishes. Some bookbinders like to work with skins having a uniform surface appearance. Others prefer more "natural" looking materials. Note de contenu : - Organoleptic Assessment

Oxydation humide

Tannage -- DéchetsIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : European tanneries generate a large amount of sludge containing chromium and other substances, some of which may be hazardous in post-tanning operations. In the next few years it is expected that landfilling these high organic content residues will be restricted in the EU thus imposing the need for treatment. This work assesses wet oxidation (WO) using hydrogen peroxide as an alternative solution for reducing the volume of sludge and its organic content. The effects of temperature, time, H2O2 dose and pH in the WO of a tannery sludge with chromium are evaluated through laboratory tests carried out in the range of 100-250 oC. Volume of sludge, total solids and volatile solids were determined in the experiments as well as total organic carbon and chromium on most of them.
