Silicones are a great source of inspiration for innovation and their qulities are appreciated in thousands of products from wind turbines to fireproof clothing, prosthetic limbs and green tyres. Derived from sand, silicones are a wide family of products available as fluids, emulsions, resins, elastomers, waxes and blends. They are prized in the highly-competitive personal care sector as they help formulators stay ahead of the game with new products, pushing the boundaries of technology to meet consumer demand in a crowded marketplace. Silicones help differentiate products, giving multiple benefits to a single raw material technology. Multifunctional silicone ingredients allow product manufacturers to simplify formulations while maintaining or improving product performance. For glazing to electronics, silicone science has improved thousands of products and shown a continuous track record in developing products consumers want and need, improving the style, performance and comfort of everyday life. Silicones are the ingredient of choice for many cosmetic, personal care and cleaning products. They add shine and gloss to lip colours and conditioners, boost silkness and ease of application in creams and lotions. They ensure the spreadability and staying power of everything from sun lotions to eye shadows. Just some examples of silicones' benefits are longlasting lip colour, hairspray that holds, dry and comfortable deodorants and heat-resistant creams as well as eye shadow and other make-up that stays put in water or hot weather. |
