The material, which is also called "frozen smoke" due to its appearance and physical properties, exhibits extremely low heat conductivity which exceeds other insulations many times over. This is why NASA has already been using aerogel for aerospace projects for many years. Despite this, it has not been possible to bind the material to textiles in a high concentration and enable straightforward further processing over the roughly 9o-year history of the material. Outlast Technologies GmbH, Heidenheim /Germany, has developed an innovative process for permanently adhering large amounts of aerogel to different media, such as nonwovens, felt and composites materials. Their original properties are retained throughout, so they can easily be further processed using conventional production methods. What is special here, is that the fabrics sold under the Aersulate name are only 1-3mm thick and achieve very high insulation values which are largely retained even under pressure and in moist conditions. Despite their high performance, they are still soft and can be used for shoes, clothing and work safety products, as well as for sleeping bags and technical applications. A new way of recycling polyamide (PA) 6 is now being presented by a US team : Using an easily accessible lanthanum trisamido catalyst, PA 6 is depolymerized to the starting monomer e-caprolactam in a highly selective, nearly quantitative, solvent-free manner and at relatively moderate temperatures. As in the unthreading of a pearl necklace, the monomers are gradually released starting from the end of the chain. PolyamidesUn polyamide est un polymère contenant des fonctions amides -C(=O)-NH- résultant d'une réaction de polycondensation entre les fonctions acide carboxylique et amine.
Selon la composition de leur chaîne squelettique, les polyamides sont classés en aliphatiques, semi-aromatiques et aromatiques. Selon le type d'unités répétitives, les polyamides peuvent être des homopolymères ou des copolymères.

Résistance au lavageIndex. décimale : 677.47 Non cellulosiques : Nylon, acryliques, polyesters, vinyles Résumé : Polyamide (PA) fiber, and blends with it, are broadly used in athleisure, stockings, inner wear and sportswear. PA, having numerous advantages, has the drawback of generating static charges due to its less hydrophilic nature. This leads to fabric clinging to the wearer. Also, the sweat generated during activity will not be transported out, making it uncomfortable to the wearer. For this reason, there has been great demand for the hydrophilic finishing technology that could be applied to PA fiber by exhaust or dipping method. In this study, hydrophilic polyester (PET) resin, was applied on PA knitted fabric by dipping method. The treated fabric was tested for water absorption, wicking and moisture management property. Fabrics treated with Estofeel (Conc), a moisture absorber by Sarex Chemicals, showed higher absorbency, wicking and better moisture management property as compared to unfinished fabrics. These treated fabrics can thus have a great application in sportswear, athleisure wear and provide better comfort to the wearer. Textiles et tissus à usages techniquesIndex. décimale : 677.4 Textiles artificiels Résumé : The enormous growth in the utilization of electronic devices across the globe in various sectors like military, industrial, medical, etc. has generated a new form of pollution called electromagnetic interference (EMI) which cause the interference or malfunctioning of the electronic equipment and hampers its performance and functionality. Electromagnetic (EM) waves can also create health issues like cancer, headaches, sleep disordesr, brain tumors, fatigue, etc. This means there is a need to shield electronic devices. Development of EMI shield needs an understanding of EM waves, materials, the mechanism used, and measurement techniques. There are 2 types of shields: metal and textile, where metal shields suffer from various limitations which can be well addressed by the use of textile materials. The future EMI shield aims to achieve economy with comfortability which can drape to any desired shape and be manufactured with ease. Textile materials can offer these attributes as they are lightweight, durable, flexible, corrosion-resistant, comfortable, easy to cover, and cost-effective. Due to their environ¬mentally friendly characteristics, low cost, light weight, and good specific mechanical properties, plant-based fibers can replace various synthetic fibers in many areas of application such as the marine, automotive, aerospace, and construction industries. In order to reduce CO2 emissions which are not only emitted by burning and burial of banana cultivation byproducts, but also by the end-of-life disposal of vehicles, Biointerio, a startup initiative at RWTH Aachen University, is working towards manufacturing valuable composite products from banana fibers for the automotive industry. Carbon fiber-reinforced polymers (CFRP) have proven to be particularly efficient. However, the production of primary carbon fibers is energy and cost-intensive - the use of recycled carbon fibers (rCF) processed into nonwovens for CFRP components is more cost-effective. Disadvantage: the strength properties are lower than CF-based CFRPs. The increase in partial strength properties could be achieved by means of targeted preferential alignment of the rCF in the nonwovens. In the project ProStAir, the airlay nonwovens formation process for CF and rCF was investigated. The central question was whether and how the orientation of the fibers of the nonwoven (isotropy ratio) can be influenced when manufacturing parameters change.
