Tannage Résumé : In the current economic climate leather factories need to redesign their processes to add value to their production in order to increase their competitiveness. In this respect, the use of a cross-linker opens up opportunities for the leather industry to obtain both high performance and eco-friendly articles. This study explores the cross-linking reaction between a polycarbodiimide and both acrylic resins and polyurethanes.
A comparison of results shows that polycarbodiimide is a very selective cross-linker since it presents both different reticulation speeds and different cross-linking reaction rates depending on the type of binder employed. In addition, and depending on the type of tanned/retanned leather used, different amounts of polycarbodiimide are required in order to obtain optimum results.En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1bSzugBa6E16r4BGKvwUEpGKzb_VQEC4n/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=9626

At the same time, it needs to manufacture fashionable and high-quality articles in order to increase competitiveness. As part of this, factories have to replace solvent-based products by water-based products in their finishing formulations to reduce the level of volatile organic compounds. The addition of a cross-linker is required in most cases in order to obtain high performance aqueous finishes. The aim of the present work is to explore the cross-linking reaction between polyisocyanate and both acrylic binders and polyurethanes.
A comparision of results shows that polyisocyanate presents a very fast reticulation (cross-linking) speed at room temperature and has a pot-life of only 4 hours. In order to obtain optimum fastness values, different amounts of polyisocyanate are required, the amounts depend on the type of leather used and the physical characteristics of the binders employed.Note de contenu : - FIGURES : 1. Résistance thermiqueIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Leather is a natural material with many applications: automotive, domestic upholstery, buildings, aviation, maritime, personal safety, etc. For each of these sectors, fire behavior is a field of particular interest. Unfortunately, there are many testing methods and different flammability standards depending on material application and end use. Therefore, there are different ways of approaching the whole flammability issue. In this work, different approaches for analyzing the fire resistance of leather are examined: (i) influence of the type of tannage, (ii) influence of the type of leather, (iii) influence of the type of retannage, (iv) influence of the type of fatliquor, and (v) influence of the use of flame retardants. The results indicate that leather presents natural fire resistance. However, the type of leather, type of tannage, retannage and fatliquor affect the flammability behavior of leather. In addition, the use of flame retardants slightly improves the smouldering properties of leather. Part III : influence of a cationic pre-bottom Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Lluis Ollé, Auteur ; E. Borrà s, Auteur ; Mira Cobos, Auteur ; Josep Maria Morera, Auteur ; M. Dolors Borras, Auteur ; Anna Bacardit, Auteur Année de publication : 2009 Article en page(s) : p. 91-96 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : The leather industry needs innovative products and processes to satisfy the requirements of a continuously evolving global market. Modern leathers are processed to very stringent technical specifications so that they will meet end use requirements. In most cases, to fulfil current demands for leather with very fastness, the use of cross-linkers is needed.
Due to differences in the manufacturing processes of polyurethanes and acrylic binders, their structural differences, and the type of tanned and retanned leather being used, variations in cross-linking may occur. Quality discrepancies will therefore be observed in the finished leather.
This study explores the influence of a cationic pre-bottom on the cross-linking reaction of polyaziridine, as well as the influence of the type of polymer employed and the type of tannage and retannage effected on the amount of cross-linker needed to improve wet physical properties of the finishing.
A comparison of results shows that the application of a cationic pre-bottom improves fastness to wet rub, this improvement being most significant in polyurethane rather than in acrylic binders. Furthermore, the cationic prebottom provides beter results when working with resin-synthetic-vegetable retanned leather and vegetable leathers. However, different amounts of polyaziridine are needed with regard to the content of carboxylic acid groups of the polymers being used.En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1_vAFG39wvCNrj5Axv_7qzNT9PhfrjBXm/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=5937

Tannage Résumé : With many industries discharging heavy metals into natural water resources, heavy metals have been found to accumulate in various living organisms which can ultimately threaten human life and pose a big threat to the environment. Thus, in the pursuit of a solution to the above mentioned problem, bioaccumulation has emerged as an interesting option for the removal of heavy metals from wastewater. In this paper, the effectiveness of the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae in the bioaccumulation of Cr3+ has been tested. Also, different factors influencing Cr3+ uptake have been discussed. This work has demonstrated that Saccharomyces cerevisiae is an effective Cr3+ biosorbent for tannery wastewater. The conditions of use of this yeast to achieve optimal chromium (III) absorption are: i) when a growth of the biosorbent equivalent to a similar concentration of Cr3+ is obtained, which contains the residual water that needs to be treated; ii) the smaller the biosorbent is the better the biosorption; iii) the uptake of Cr3+ is more efficient when no extra growth medium is added to the wastewater; iv) the longer the exposure period of the yeast to Cr3+ , the bigger the Cr3+ reduction. Since Saccharomyces cerevisiae is an inexpensive, readily available source of biomass, this discovery could be of great use for a low-budget and efficient wastewater treatment system Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL : Microorganisms and growth conditions - Preparation of the chromium standard solution - Cr3+ uptake experiments with nonadapted and adapted saccharomyces cerevisiae - Cr3+ uptake experiments with different biosorbent doses - Cr3+ uptake experiments with different compsitions of growth medium - Cr3+ uptake experiments with different contact times
