In the previous part (part - 6), we have discussed uniform, bimetallic, crevice and filiform corrosion. The form of corrosion of metals depends upon various factors e.g. environmental conditions (external factors: potential, pH, temperature etc.), geometry of metal and interna) factors (metal composition, etc.). Sonne of the forms are highly disastrous. Recognition of exact form of corrosion is sometimes difficuit but it helps to mitigate the corrosion. The pitting corrosion or pitting is an extreme localized corrosion which can be inhibited by the same common approach as used to reduce corrosion in general. |
