Réservoirs (récipients) -- revêtements protecteursIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Potable water for the city of Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates is obtained by desalination of sea water. There are several power and desalination stations distributed all over the country. The largest of them is located in Umm Al Nar which has a 90 MGPD output and the storage is made in above ground steel tanks coated inside and outside. Besides these there are several smaller tanks for storing fire water, distillate, fuel oil etc. for the boilers and turbines. The soif on which they are located is notable for its salinity and the sub soit water level is very close to grade. Most of the tanks have been made more than ten to fifteen years ago and therefore were not provided with cathodic protection for the external of tank bottom. The corrosion has therefore set in at the annular ring plate and propagating to the centre. The rehabiIitation of some of the tanks has been done at very great cost and the newer larger tanks are provided with cathodic protection of better design. Further metal beneath cathodic disbondment (caused due to blistering) are under microscope to find out type of corrosion and list them from minimum to worst. Revêtements:PeintureIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The corrosion behavior of coated reinforced TMT bars used in conjunction with concrete structure have been investigated individually and also with various conditions of coated contretes. Corrosion characteristics of the coated & uncoated materials were measured then potentiostatically. The Icorr & Ecorr values were calculated using Gamry Echem Software and Tafel's extrapolation methods. The measurements were made based on the principle of Evans diagram Icor is free corrosion current & if it is more, it is corroding faster. Ecorr value if less negative is more safer & if it tends to zero it is less corroding and at zero value there is no corrosion. If Ecorr value is positive then it is considered as nobler or getting protected. Comparing the results it has been observed that polyurethane coating in reinforced TMT bars seems to be a potential coating material for resistance corrosion. Note de contenu : - Sample preparation
