Résumé : |
An explanation of the major performance benefits of vinyl versatate-based emulsions is given, before highlighting a number of key factors which have aided the development of first- and second-generation vinyl versatate-based terpolymers, principally through consideration of scrub resistance properties. The key factors include emulsion composition, process conditions and paint formulation.
The first- and second-generation terpolymers studied incorporate small percentages of butyl acrylate and 2-ethylhexyl acrylate respectively.
Environmental performance improvements are considered to arise via the use of ammonium- and VOC-free additives, reduced coalescing agent levels, resulting in lower-odour and lower-VOC paint formulations. |
