Résumé : |
Diethylene glycol dibenzoate (DEGDB), Benzoflex 2-45 is an excellent plasticizer for latex applications providing strong viscosity response and good application properties. However, DEGDB is a solid at room temperature. The DEGDB is usually blended with other dibenzoates to improve its storage and handling properties. Recently it was discovered that blending DEGDB with diethylene glycol monobenzoate yields a unique liquid plasticizer at room temperature that has excellent performance in latex adhesives systems. The new benzoate blend, Benzoflex 32001 abbreviated Blend 3200, was evaluated in industry standard latex adhesive emulsions. Blend 3200 was fully compatible with the polymers tested. Additionally, performance attributes such as set and open times, viscosity response and specific adhesions of Blend 3200-based adhesives were at least as good as adhesives based on standard plasticizers. The evaluation concluded that Blend 3200 is an excellent plasticizer for water-based adhesives. Blend 3200 offers adhesive manufacturers a new efficient general-purpose plasticizer. |
