Résumé : |
We have shown how orto-phthalate based esters can be successfully used in a PUR hot melt adhesive and offer versatility in these applications. This was done using a mixture design of experiments to find general trends in formulations using HDA, STEPANPOL PD-56 and agent 2272-100. Properties modeled included viscosity, open time, green strength and creep resistance. Also, the design of experiment approach allowed us to find optimized formulations for specific criteria.
For example, it may be possible to increase the green strength of predominantly HDA-based with the addition of STEPANPOL PD-56. Also, the prosper combination of Agent 2272-100 and STEPANPOL PD-56 could simultaneously increase open time and green strength over an all-HDA based system.
DSC scans of formulations that incorporated only STEPANPOL PD-56 or agent 2272-100 with HDA revealed different thermodynamics transitions that could be correlated with open time and green strength. Finally, quick stick testing was used to evaluate the bonding profile of two formulations using HDA/STEPANPOL PD-56 and HDA/STEPANPOL PD-56/agent 2272-100. |
