Résumé : |
Intrinsically conducting polymers (ICPs) represent a special class of materials with variable properties and have a great interest in the field of coating, owing to their conductive ability and environmental regulation on heavy metal coating. Over the past thirty years these materials have been subject of intensive research and industrial application which are much more effective and proven themselves as a potential alternate to hazardous metal containing coating in order to control corrosion properties. Their potential has also been driven by the other applications like batteries, electro chromic display device and sensor etc. Intrinsically conducting polymers, especially polyaniline, are being studied with great interest and have potential of replacing some of the currently available materials. Various techniques used for synthesis of such polymers and their characterization have been discussed in this paper. This paper highlights the work relating to the protection of metal by use of ICPs and prospective application of conductive polymer depending on their different techniques and the future of these polymers. |
