Since our last paper on oxidative beamhouse processing published last year (LEATHER International June 2012, page 26), this concept has generated a great interest from top quality brands. A careful analysis on the scale up to production volumes of this technology led us to a critical analysis of some of the technical problems faced, such as excessive swelling and temperature increase. New auxiliaries were developed to fit in the oxidative logic, and to the long lasting research partnership between Ars Tinctoria and Italprogetti Engineering a new research partner was added, Biodermol, to produce the auxiliaries needed for the process scale up. |
