Résumé : |
In Europe, the paint and coating industry in under strong pressure to reduce VOC emissions. Although most interior decorative paints are already waterborne, many formulations based on hard polymer emulsions still contain solvents and plasticizers, affecting the indoor air quality of the painted rooms. The use of soft emulsions with MFFT 0 °C by contrast, makes it possible to formulate paints without any solvent and plasticizers. These so called low emission paints, traditionally based on VAE copolymer emulsions, provide superior indoor air quality and high performance in terms of scrub resistance, hiding powder and block resistance. Furthermore, coalescent-free VAE based interior paints are fulfilling even the strictest emission limits for VOC and SVOC measured according the chamber emission test methods ISO 16000-9. |
