Liritan
Tannage végétalIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Since the introduction of this system of tannage in South Africa in 1960, the method has been adopted hy most of the important vegetable leather tanners in the U.S.A. and Canada, and is also in use in Australia and Japan. A considerable amount of practical experience has been gained, and tanners have exercised their ovin initiative in adapting it to suit their plant and requirements. In recent years it has been modified to suit harness, saddlery, and helting leathers, as well as a combination of these products from the same liquors.
The original description of this tannage as a "no-effluent" system implied the closed recirculation of the tan liquors. However the ever tightening standards faced hy tanners have made it desirable to ahsorh the subsequent wash and bleach liquors into the system, and this has become possible in view of the availability of spray-dried powdered extracts with reduced water content, and the elimination of the soda acid bleach of leather from the circulators, and by changing hlends to avoid large tan molecules accumulating in the grain of the leather.Note de contenu : - Fundamental principles involved
