Résumé : |
In conventional chrome tannages approximately one-third og the chrome tanning material employed remains unused. With the aid of a chrome balance it is shown that this unfixed chrome in the wet leather is important because the greater portion of it reaches the effluent during the processes following the tannage.
New chrome tanning processes are described which make it possible to achieve much better utilization of the chrome tanning material employed. The chrome balance of such a modern tannage is compared with that of a conventional tannage where residual liquors are recycled. It is shown that the leather tanned by the new process will release hardly any chrome during subsequent operations. The practical application of modern tannages of this type and the properties obtained with this process are discussed. |
