The composition of complexes in glucose-reduced chrome tanning liquors was studied. The complexes which were separated by ionexchange chromatography were characterized by their visible and infrared absorption spectra and their ratios and acidos to chromium. These properties suggested that the chrome liquors were a mixture of various complexes : sulfato, formato, sulfatoformato, oxalato, hexaaquo, and hydroxo complexes. Among these complexes, hydroxo complexes had the highest affinity to collagen. |
