Hybrid polymer sealants-minerals for performance enhancement / Anthony Asbridge in PAINTINDIA, Vol. LIII, N° 8 (08/2003)
[article]
Titre : Hybrid polymer sealants-minerals for performance enhancement Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Anthony Asbridge, Auteur ; David Preston, Auteur ; Erik van Dijnen, Auteur Année de publication : 2003 Article en page(s) : p. 57-62 Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Sealants based on hybrid polymers such as silyl-terminated polyethers combine good weathering characteristics, paintability and stain resistance, and excellent adhesion to a wide range of substrates.
In silyl-terminated polyether sealants the mineral component can represent over 50% of the mass of the sealant. The choice of mineral will therefore have an impact on the processing and ultimate performance of the sealant. This paper evaluates the performance of minerals in such sealants. Specifically, the effects of coated ground calcium carbonates on sealant stability, rheology and curing and hardened tensile properties are reported. The potential impacts on the sealant process routes are discussed in parallel.
The results demonstrate that sealant production processes can be simplified and sealant properties improved through selection and control of the physical properties of the mineral component.Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=12167
