The fire performance of coated cables has been assessed by employing standard methods. The coatings were found quite effective in reducing the burning behaviour ofpower cables. Significant improvement in circuit failure time is noted in coated cable specimens. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Bisphenol-A epoxy resin have certain inherent drawbacks. the limitation could be overcome by replacing them with multifunctional epoxy resins such as epoxy phenol novolac (EPN) and epoxy cresol novolac (ECN) resins. Synthesis and characterization of EPN and ECN has been discussed. ECN resin were observed to be much superior so that a comprehensive study was made of the various coating properties such as drying time, hardness, adhesion, gloss, flexibility, skinning tendency, corrosion, impact-resistance and chemical resistance of cresol novolac epoxy cured with polyamide resin. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Esterified epoxy-amine adducts with linseed fatty acids were prepared by reacting epoxy-amine-adduct and linseed fatty acids in different proportions. The used epoxy-amine adduct was synthesized from epoxy resin and diethanol amine in molar ratio 1:1. The pigmented coating compositions for cathodic electrodeposition were prepared by using different esterified epoxy-amine adducts with linseed fatty acids, separately. Film properties of cathodic electrodeposited coating compositions were studied and it was found that the coating compositions having 10% and 15% esterified epoxy- amine adducts showed good film properties.
