Vernis en phase aqueuse -- AdditifsIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : As demand rises to improve the outdoor durability of waterborne coatings, as well as enhance surface effects, Clariant has developed addditives to meet the utmost expectations, as the author discuss.
Clariant's latest renewable-based additives are combining the demand for more natural, sustainable products with state-of-the-art performance compared to standard commercially available products. These additives will enable waterborne coating manufacturers to formulate paints with surface feels from smooth to the pleasant feel of untreated wood, with outstanding scratch resistance, high matting efficiency and improved weathering properties. Water-based coatings are increasingly popular because of their more environmentally friendly aspects compared to solvent-based coatings. To protect waterborne coatings against the adverse effects of outdoor weathering and enhance their surface effects, it is necessary to add UV stabilisers and wax type additives, which must not only be perfectly compatible with the coating resin system but alos hydrophobic. Indeed, if this is not the case, the additives can easily be extracted from the coating solely by humidity (rain or condensation).Note de contenu : - Light stabilisers for waterborne coatings

PolyacryliquesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : In recent years, more and more attention has been paid to green surfactants, which are safe, non toxic and environmentally friendly. In this paper the author present their research findings.
Acrylic polymer latex has been widely used in many fields, such as coatings, adhesives, textile, papermaking and leather industries because of its particular properties and environmental friendliness. Nonyphenol ethoxylates (NPEOs) are widely used as surfactants for emulsion polymerisation to stabilise the latex. However, NPEOs are bioaccumulative and persistant in the environment, while nonylphenol, the breakdown product of NPEs, is an endocrine disruptor. Therefore, the EU Commission has recommended implementing risk reduction strategy, which foresees the ban of all applications leading to direct emissions to waste water and strict emission controls for all other technical processes using NPEOs as surfactants. In one of the major fields of application, alkyl phenol-free surfactants, with a more favourable ecological profile, are becoming key ingredients for eco-friendly emulsion polymers and polymer dispersions. In this paper, different kinds of green surfactants in acrylic polymer latex were reviewed.Note de contenu : - Alkyl glycosides

Mattex PRO aims to make formulating a little easier by simplifying some of the challenges that paint formulators face: from lowering VOCs to eliminating crystalline silica. This new class of calcined kaolin combines the benefits of traditional calcined kaolin along with improved scrub and burnish resistance. Its unique morphology, high Mohs hardness and low oil absorption provide formulating flexibility. Unlike most other kaolin products, Mattex PRO can replace various types of flatting agents, other calcined kaolins and extenders, while simplifying formulations.Note de contenu : - What is koalin ?

The ever-increasing importance of 100% UV-curing coating systems and the challenge of spontaneous and effective defoaming associated with their technical properties and the most frequently employed application methods was addressed by the development of BYK-1788 and BYK-1799. The different property profiles of these two solvent-free defoamers provide of these two solvent-free defoamers provide technical responses to the defoaming of both 100% UV-curing clear coat systems for which maximum gloss and transparency are an essential requirement and matted or pigmented 100% UV-curing coating systems for which maximum defoaming properties are critical. The more system-compatible polymer basic of BYK-1788 and the comparatively incompatible polydimethylsiloxane based in BYK-1799, make these two defoamers ideal additions to the existing defoamer portfolio for use in 100% UV-curing coating systems.Note de contenu : - Defoaming properties for 100% UV-curing clear coat systems

Matériaux pour les industries agro-alimentairesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : With the ever increasing demands for wetting additives to meet regulatory demands and low migration in food packaging, the author, Evonik Resource Efficiency, discusses the company's latest developments.
Food packaging is an ever-growing segment within the printing inks market. A general growth trend is observed all over the world, with more specific trends seen within the various regions. For example, the European food packaging market experiences a trend toward small packaging sizes; in Asian there is a higher demand for packaged food due to expansion of the population and changes in consumer behaviour. In the food packaging market, the preferred printing technologies are flexo and gravure printing, with regional preferences for either techniques. Nevertheless, the market development toward smaller lot sizes and the marketing trend toward customisation pushes the industry to develop offers for fully or partially digitally produced food packaging. Depending on the end applications, different ink technologies are utilised.En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ZdhpF7oq2lrbrHjgt_Uxsb4xByjZsxQx/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=28108

Règlements de sécuritéIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : The author discusses the guidance papers the Association has published to assist companies in the supply chain to meet safety standards.
Food contact materials (FCMs) are widely used in packaging for every day fonds and beverages. Whereas kitchen ustensils tend to corne into contact with foods only briefly, food packaging allows food to be stored for long periods, which means extended contact can coeur. Adhesives are used in almost all food packaging, to bond the different materials used but direct food contact is rarely intended.
Adhesives typically make up less than 5% of food packaging and, for most adhesive applications, direct food contact is not intended.
The adhesives industry is working hard to ensure that its products are safe. FEICA, the Association of the European Adhesive & Sealant Industry, has published several guidance papers to help not only their own members but also the other players of the FCM supply chain, to ensure that the final packaging is safe.

Revêtements en bâtiment:Peinture en bâtimentIndex. décimale : 667.2 Colorants et pigments Résumé : The author discusses how the right inorganic pigment can be the right solution for exterior painting tinting systems.
Colour is an excellent way of personalising your home, helping your company's brand stand out or expressing how you Peel.
High public demand for colour has been confirmed by market research on pigments, which show not only an increase in demand for colour but also the considerable potential for a wide range of hues, as a resuit of the colour solutions available.
One of the rnost common ways of incorporating organic and inorganic pigments into paint is dispersion in liquid. The pigment or pigment paste to be used must be chosen carefully and accurately on the basis of the context in which it is to be used.
When exterior colour is called for (so-called façade paints) the choice of pigment is crucial to the development of tinting systems because it is necessary to guarantee the paint's performance when it is exposed to environmental conditions, such as rain, sun, heat and cold.
Tinting system development hinges on the need to encompass the greatest range of colours in the widest variety of available paints and products (acrylic and alkyl paints, etc) including mineral paints (silicate and silicone-based) and external thermal insulation systems (External Thermal Insulation Composite Systems, ETICS).
Clearly the challenge is in obtaining the widest range of colours possible, whilst maintaining high performance standards for exterior
In this article I will attempt to analyse the delicate equilibrium, which exists between the chemical make-up and the structure of inorganic pigments, their colour hues, their pigmentation capacity and their performance when exposed to the sort of atmospheric conditions and aggressive environments characteristic of outdoor surfaces.Note de contenu : - Exterior paints
