Acceptance and application of the oxidation ditch is expanding because of its simplicity, ease of operation, ease of maintenance, low cost of operation, flexibility, and low initial capital investment. The ditch configuration, with its controlled complete mixing and high and low turbulence zones, is unique for aeration reactors. The rotor, with its great flexibility of efficient oxygenation input, its excellent mixing capability through the full range of immersions and speeds, and its adaptability to the ditch configuration, is not available in other aeration devices. The process requires an minimum amount of operation and can stand shock loads. The sludge produced is well flocculated, easily settled, well aged and extensively mineralized, and the excess sludge is at a minimum. Most importantly, the effluent produced is of a high quality. For these reasons, you should investigate the possibility of treating your tannery waste to an oxidation ditch. |
