Modified calcium carbonates (MCC) in golf ball shape are physiologically harmless, silica-free alternative to conventional matting agents. The round balls show the same or even better matting efficiency. Matting agents for emulsion paints based on diatomaceous earth are widely in use because of their technical performance characteristics. From a regulatory and labor safety standpoint, however, the demand for silica-free alternatives continues to arise. Golf ball-shaped modified calcium carbonates are safe and appear technically at least comparable. |
