Résumé : |
Composites are used in a wide range of applications in surface transport, and their use has increased steadily in both low- and high-technology engineering applications over recent years. However, many of the defects that can appear within composites are very difficult to detect with current non-destructive testing (NDT) technologies. A detailed NDT and/or health monitoring procedure and guideline for proper damage assessment are thus needed. This involves identifying the nature of the damage, its location and extent during different phases of the material and/or structure life, i.e. during manufacturing and assembly, as well as service, maintenance and repair. |
