Résumé : |
Some physical properties are compared for chrome tanned leather made from the skins of both sexes of Red and Grey Kangaroo. The skins of Grey Kangaroos produce thicker leather than the skins of Red Kangaroos and therefore, where breaking loads for the various treatments are concerned, leather from Grey Kangaroos is usually stronger than that from Red Kangaroos and leather from the skins of males is stronger than that from females. However, if the effect of thickness is removed by comparison of the relevant tensile strength properties, leather made from the skins of males or females is approximately equivalent, while leather from Grey Kangaroos is still stronger than that from Red Kangaroos. On average, the area of leather from both Grey and Red Kangaroos does not differ, but males of both species are approximately 20% greater in area than females. Skins of both species and of both sexes produce thicker leather as the skin area increases. |
