Résumé : |
The annual loss of iron and steel from corrosion is a common feature globally. India is no exception. Our knowledge on this aspect is always updated by various meetings and seminars throughout the year.
We know very well about the consequence of applying paint not suitable for the purpose i. e. corrosion control.
The biggest consumer of high quality, high performance paint in India is Indian Railways, who have now started using stainless steel for fabricating coaches. Let us hope that this not an initiative to curb paint requirement, an eventuality that may not augur well for the India Paint Industry.
The question that raises its ugly head is why in spite of good standard paint specification, the ultimate product, in most cases, fail to live up to what the paint claims to perform.
After a very careful analysis of the subject, the results point to the areas as under : the problem is two fold. 1. The fixation of purchase price - 2. Improper interpretation of specifications. |
