Résumé : |
The lithografic printing process is a very harsh environnment and its success depends largely on the rheological properties of the inks used. The ink must undergo a wide range of flow conditions during its journey through a printing press. It is poured or pumped into a holding pan from where it is picked up by by a series of ink rollers. It must then adequately coat the image areas of the printing cylinder, transfer to the blanket cylinder and coat the paper without teraing the paper or spreading. The ink must then set while retaining its colour intensity and color, and be sufficiently hard and 'rub-resistant'. If the rheological properties of the ink can be optimised during processing, the characteristics and quality of the final product can be favourably influenced. |
