Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Good adhesion and protective properties of powder coatings depend on the quality of pre-treatment, curing schedule, temperature and duration as well as power pack voltage. With an objective to establish these parameters for a commercial black epoxy powder, the changes in physical properties of its coatings have been studied. A coating of 70 -100 pm thickness is found to have good physical properties when backed as per specified temperature and duration. The scratch hardness, gloss and rocker hardness as well as other properties of the powder coatings were found to be optimum when they were stoved at around 180°C. A duration of 15 minutes for stoving the powder coatings at around 180-190°C is found to result in their optimum properties. In order to have good performance of its coatings the commercial black epoxy powder coat may not be subjected to power packed voltage beyond 70-80 kV. The resistance to hot water, detergents and aromatic solvents has been observed to be very good. Note de contenu : - Experimental
