Most of these waterborne systems require relatively high isocyanate indexing over hydroxyl content in order to compensate for the inevitable competing reaction with water. We develop combinations of novel acrylic polyol dispersions and a novel water dispersible polyisocyanate that produce useful coatings at -NCO/ -OH indexing of less than 1.25. A discussion is included on how variations in components of the formulations influence pot life, application properties, tack-free and through-cure time film properties, and accelerated weathering data.
