Colour acceptance in high solids alkyds / John A. Clayton in EUROPEAN COATINGS JOURNAL (ECJ), N° 10/99 (10/1999)

Titre : Colour acceptance in high solids alkyds Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : John A. Clayton, Auteur ; Denise Harrison, Auteur Année de publication : 1999 Article en page(s) : p. 18-25 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The use of universal colourants in high solids alkyd paint systems can be quite difficult due to poor colour acceptance. In some cases titanium dioxide selection appears to have a minor influence on this property but in itself is not enough to overcome the problem. The most realistic approach to overcoming colour acceptance problems in high solids alkyds appears to be through modification of the colourants to optimise the dispersing/stabilising agents. This would create a more robust product that could still be compatible with other paint systems. Note de contenu : -Various routes to achieve high solids

Titre : Opacity optimization of waterbased coatings Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : John A. Clayton, Auteur Année de publication : 1998 Article en page(s) : p. 444-447 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The effective use of titanium dioxide pigments and opaque polymers together in decorative paints is considered. Results show that while it is true that opaque polymers can produce cost effective opacity under some conditions, under others their use can actually reduce opacity through flocculation and/or pigment crowding. The performance window for opaque polymers in semigloss latex paints is predicted using designed experiment techniques. This information is presented along with a discussion of the possible causes for the opacity loss observed under some conditions. Note de contenu : - Opacity

ViscoplasticitéIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Rheoloqy is a fundamental property that affects the performance of coatings. Modern rheometers have the ability to classify many aspects of behaviour that cannot be measured using simple viscosity measurements. The following discussion compares basic rheology measuring techniques of flow, creep and oscillation and how they can be applied to coatings measurement to classify actual performance differences. - Oscillation : The nature of the elastic behaviour is best measured through an oscillation measurement;-In reality very few materials exhibit pure elastic or pure Newtonian (viscous) behaviour; - The linear viscoelastic region is necessary to define elastic behaviour; - Prediction about behaviour by comparing oscillation measurements; - Useful and simple measurements can be made with limited understanding of rehological theoryEn ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1F4bnAd0tTx_VZ_v13yNcqDIlnSZuIn-Q/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=11218
