In a series of collaborative tests starting in 1978 many aspects of in-can-preservation were investigated. These have culminated in a round robin test (phase VII) designed to compare the precision of viable count and streak plate methods as a means of determining bacterial populations in well-preserved, unpreserved and so-called border line preserved paints. Reproducibility and repeatablity of both methods are reported. The streak plate method was found to be adequate to recover surviving or growing bacteria from the challenged paint samples. Good correlations of the streak results to log viable counts were found. Note de contenu : 1.IBRG Challenge Test
- Test parameters and the matrix effects are normaly too complex to be easily standardised
- A blank sample must be included into every test
- The incubation time should be sufficient to allow molecules to express their activity
- Real conditions are when only some batches of an inadequately preserved paint are spoiled by bacteria on storage : Participants of the test phase VII - Micro-organisms - Test Procedure - Test Paint - Sample Pre-treatment - Challenge - Recovery Methods - Evaluation - Ratings -
- 2. Results and Discussions : Inoculum - Viable Count Technique - Streak Plate Method - Total viable counts and streak plate results are comparablePermalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=10986
