Titre : Vacuum metallised pigments : The next generation of metallic pigments Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Paul Harding, Auteur Année de publication : 2002 Article en page(s) : p. 103-110 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Metallic effects have long been produced using a variety of pigments including, but not limited to, pearl micas and pigments produced from true metals such as bronze, copper and aluminium. This piece will contrast the method of manufacture, application and end uses of the various types of metallic effect pigment in existence with Vacuum Metallised Pigments (VMPs) and illustrate the use of VMPs in a variety of coating systems. Evidence will be presented illustrating VMP based produced with other common metallic paints. Note de contenu : - Metals in paint systems
- Pigment forms
- Atomised powders
- Flake powders
- Production of VMP

Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Metallic effects have long been produced using a variety of pigments including, but not limited to, pearl micas and pigments produced from true metals such as bronze, copper and aluminium. This piece will contrast the method of manufacture, application and end uses of the various types of metallic effect pigment in existence with Vacuum Metallised Pigments (VMPs) and illustrate the use of VMPs in a variety of coatings systems. Evidence will be presented contrasting VMP based produced paints with other common metallic paints. The novel manufacture process of VMPs leads to substantially different processing requirements, physical properties and end effects when compared against conventional metal and mica based systems; the uses, limitations and potential areas for development of these materials will be discussed in depth.
