Pigments effect mechanical coating properties / Werner Bosch in EUROPEAN COATINGS JOURNAL (ECJ), N° 10/01 (10/2001)
[article]
Titre : Pigments effect mechanical coating properties Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Werner Bosch, Auteur ; Willi Schlesing, Auteur ; Maren Buhk, Auteur Année de publication : 2001 Article en page(s) : p. 60-67 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Résumé : High technological demands are often made on coatings. For example the stone chip resistance, adhesion, huminity resistance and the levelling are recurring valuation criteria for the quality of a coating. In pigmented binder systems, the technological characteristics are determined by the different resins, the level of pigmentation and the pigment-resin interactions. For a long time, the dynamic-mechanical analysis (DMA) has been often used for the characterization of coating systems [1-3]. The results and conclusions from DMA investigations of different coatings are often compared among each other and evaluated. It is known that the results of DMA measurements are affected by the resin composition, their quantity and the proportion of mixtures of them. That is in fact why this method is applied to analyze those systems. Note de contenu : - Pigment volume concentration (PVC) influences mechanical behaviour of the coatings
- Pigment size distribution effects the property profile of a coating
- Thermomechanical profiles
- E'min of the effect coatings depends on PVC
- Correlation to technical properties of the coatings
- Knowledge of pigment-resininteractions is important

Titre : Thermal analysis for chip-resistant basecoats Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Werner Bosch, Auteur ; Willi Schlesing, Auteur ; Maren Buhk, Auteur Année de publication : 1999 Article en page(s) : p. 60-69 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Using new types of special-effect pigments gave rise to the need for further improvements to the already good chip resistance of coating compositions, especially basecoats. By using a combination of thermal and thermomechanical analytical methods, the authors found out which binder combinations in basecoats can lead to the best chip resistance. The paints can be evaluated independently of the way in which special adhesion tests are carried out or various coating compositions are prepared. Note de contenu : - A shematic stone chip situation for a typical multi-coat finish
- Three test methods to illustrate the range of properties
- The polyacrylate dispersion proved to be the hardest component
- Glass transitions are characterised by a drop of the storage modulus E' values
- Best adhesion and chip resistance with a high polyurethane content in the basecoat
- Good adhesion and chip resistance with the paints with different types of pigmentation
- Morphological interpretation of thermal mechanical characteristics
- Influence of the binder ratios on the morphology of the paint films
- Influence of the binder ratios on the elasticity of the paint films
- Transferability and limitations of the methods
- Practical support in the development of paintsEn ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1566k-PtTqIT1ziRLVKX_Ld3Si-GkH2qn/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=11225
