This study found that a bioflocculant produced by Bacillus subtils is able to treat leather wastewater, but the flocculation activity of the bioflocculant needs to be improved. In this paper, the culture conditions of Bacillus subtilis were optimised by single-factor and orthogonal tests. The results showed that the bioflocculant produced by Bacillus subtilis through optimising the culture conditions had good flocculation efficiency. The optimal culture temperature after optimisation was 36°C, the inoculum dose was 5% (v/v), at pH7.5, the culture time was 48 hours, the flocculation efficiency increased from 46.12% to 73.71%, an increase of 59.82%, and the production of flocculant increased from 0.45g/L to 0.61g/L, an increase of 35.56%. Through optimising the culture conditiops of Bacillus subtilis the flocculation efficiency of the bioflocculant, was improved and both the cost of flocculation and secondary pollution were reduced.
(Wikipedia)

Tannage Résumé : Tannery wastewater with high content of total nitrogen is a liquid leather waste with a serious impact on the environment. Herein, the removal of total nitrogen from tannery wastewater has attracted increasing attention among scientists in the leather industry. In this paper, a kind of novel modified bioflocculant was prepared based on the optimisation index of the total nitrogen removal rate of tannery wastewater. Specifically, the novel modified bioflocculant (type N6616) was prepared by modifying Bacillus cereus with amphoteric starch using ammonium cerium nitrate as initiator. Then, the single-factor and orthogonal optimisation experiments were carried out to optimise the modified conditions. The results showed that the highest removal rate could reach 77.53% under the condition of the amphoteric starch dosage of 0.35g/L, the bioflocculant dosage of 3g/L, the initiator dosage (0.02mol/L) of 1.75mL, the reaction temperature of 40°C, the reaction time (second stage) of 18 minutes, the rotation speed of 270r/min and the pH of reaction system of 5.0. This paper provides an effective bioflocculant to remove the total nitrogen of tannery wastewater and mitigates the bad effect of tannery wastewater on the environment. Tannage Résumé : Tannery wastewater contains a high concentration of total nitrogen, and its direct discharge will lead to eutrophication of water bodies, thus the treatment of total nitrogen in tannery wastewater has become the focus of environmental protection. In this paper, total nitrogen removal rate in tannery wastewater was investigated as an index, and sm-A3 cationic starch was used as an initiator to optimise the modification process of flocculant produced by Bacillus cereus CZ1001. In the modification optimisation process, single-factor optimisation experiments and orthogonal optimisation experiments were conducted on the dosage of cationic starch, bioflocculant, initiator, reaction time, reaction temperature, pH and rotational speed of the reaction system. The results showed that with cationic starch (2mL) 0.3 g/L, bioflocculant (25mL) 4.5g/L, initiator (0.02mol/L) dosage 2mL, reaction time in the first stage 7.5min, reaction temperature 55°C and the reaction system pH7.0, the highest total nitrogen removal rate of 89.22% was achieved for the tannery wastewater, and finally, we produced a cationic starch modified bioflocculant with high nitrogen removal rate. This research result reduced the environmental impact of tannery wastewater and broadened the treatment pathway of tannery wastewater. Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL PROCEDURE : Material and method

Specifically, the effects of the modified bioflocculant on the removal of total nitrogen from tannery wastewater were investigated by the single-factor optimisation experiment and orthogonal optimization experiment, and the conclusions obtained were that the optimum factors were: amphoteric starch 0.2g/L, bioflocculant 3.5g/L, initiator (0.02mol/L) 2.5mL, reaction time of the second stage 28 minutes, rotation speed of mixing 270r/min, reaction temperature 35°C, and reaction system pH5.0. The total nitrogen removal rate of 79.81% could be obtained under these optimal reaction conditions. In other words, the modified bioflocculant has an improved effect on the removal of total nitrogen.
