Résumé : |
Good adhesion assumes good wettting and requires low surface tension. Solvent-based systems have low surface tension to begin with. Water-based systems need surface tension reducing additives. A new method of measuring now makes it possible to analyse the effect of the additive in the formulation and this way to reduce otherwise necessary costly tests on printers of printing presses. Thus, measuring dynamic surface tension can save time and money. |
Note de contenu : |
- Time dependent changes in the surface tension decide on the wetting behaviour
- Measurable time dependency of the surface tension by varying the bubble lifetime
- Analysis shows : the initial wetting might be identical but the spreading behaviour can still be different
