Titre : Modern phosphating process for automotive finishing Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : N. C. Debnath, Auteur ; G. N. Bhar, Auteur Année de publication : 2002 Article en page(s) : p. 46-60 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The practical aspects of a modern tricationic phosphating process used for automotive finishing with cathodic electrodeposition process are discussed in details. The critical areas of operation in different stages of cleaning, surface activation, phosphating, passivation and rinsing, are highlighted along with the importance of the quality of water used for bath make-up and rinsing operations. The importance of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy in the evaluation of corrosion performance of phosphated and painted steel substrate is illustrated by comparing a modern tri-cationic phosphating formulation with conventional high zing phosphating formulations. Note de contenu : - Pretreatment process for higher corrosion resistance
- Bath parameters are important at every stage
- Degreasing within two steps
- Phosphate coating quality inferiors with derusting
- Surface activation for getting nucleating centres
- Six important points for phosphating stage
- Passivating rinse for sealings of the pores
- Caracteristics of phosphate coating
- Accelerated tests evaluate performance of the phosphate coating
- Experimental

Titre : Theoretical studies of light scattering power Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : N. C. Debnath, Auteur ; D. D. Kotkar, Auteur Année de publication : 1998 Article en page(s) : P. 264-269 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The theoretical light scattering efficiency of commonly used white pigments, extenders and microvoids dispersed in a polymer film has been computed at λ = 5500 Ã… as a function of particle or void size. Either Mie or Aden Kerker's theory has been used for computation depending upon the geometry of scattering particles. The utility of these results for selection and optimum utilization of different scattering materials for paint formulations is discussed. Finally the effect of PVC on the opacity of rutile based paints is discussed in the framework of modified Stieg's model for hiding power based on the dependent scattering theory of Fitzwater. Note de contenu : - Computation of scattering efficiencies of white pigments and extenders : Effect of particle size and refractive index - Effect of the wavelength variation - Relative intensity of scattered light
- Computation of light scattering efficiency of coated rutiles and microvoid disperses in alkyd medium
- Effect of pigment volume concentration and the hiding models for pigmented film
