Tests d'efficacitéIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The true promise of high irradiance tests - quicker time to determine results, faster time to determine a material's suitability for use, shorter time to market, or higher outdoor equivalents in the same test time -may be fully realised with the application of established and straightforward techniques to establish reciprocity. While some materials may prove unsuitable for the technique, high irradiance has already proven applicable to reliably increase test acceleration for many products. Température -- ContrôleIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : In the May issue of PPCJ a short history of modern atmospheric corrosion testing and recent advances in the field was discussed. In this article we will cover a topic, which generates many questions from laboratory technicians and researchers who operate corrosion test chambers : how relative humidity and temperature are measured and controlled in these devices. The loose, and sometimes poor, descriptions of relative humidity measurement and control in corrosion test standards have led to significant confusion in the testing community. Device manufacturers have implemented various measurements techniques, each representing a reasonable interpretation of the standards but which may or may nor yield similar results to one another. Adding to the confusion, the very need for control of relative humidity is not as clear as one might expect of a modern test standard. Finally, what is the role of laboratory conditions in meeting the requirements of the standards ? Note de contenu : - The difficulty in defining temperature and relative humidity in standards

ViscositéIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Dibenzoates are low VOC/non-SVHC plasticisers that exhibit excellent performance overall in adhesive applications. While the use of cheaper plasticiser alternates may be viable for some applications to reduce the cost of the overall formulation, careful evaluation of physical properties must be conducted in order to determine whether the loss in performance is acceptable. Even a 30% addition of triacetin to a dibenzoate blend can cause a noticeable drop in performance for both homopolymer and copolymer systems. Additionally, the use of TMPDDIB is not advised for homopolymer systems due to its poor compatibility and resulting poor performance. Triacetin and TMPDDIB also demonstrate high volatility, which may become a problem as regulatory bodies take more interest in the VOCs of formulations and articles. The judicial application of these alternates in blends with dibenzoates is key in formulating a low cost adhesive with acceptable performance. Note de contenu : - Volatility of neat plasticizers

Revêtements:PeintureIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : TiO2 has some very unique properties and remains the most effective and commercially significant white pigment on the market today, with no direct alternative for the vast majority of applications. But did you know that TiO2 is actually beneficial for reducing energy consumption and counteracting global warming? TiO2 can be put to work every day to improve the environment and significantly reduce our CO2 emissions. TiO2 pigments are used as intermediates in the production of paints and coatings and as such a 'cradle to gate' product carbon footprint is a common request from those who wish to calculate the footprint of their own products. A full product 'cradle to gate' carbon footprint number requires all feed-stocks and off-site inputs to be included in the calculation. An industry average product carbon footprint for 2012 has been calculated by the Titanium Dioxide Manufacturers Association (TDMA). The TDMA cradle to gate average value of 5.3 kg CO2e/kg will be used in all the following considerations as we argue purely on the technical merits of TiO2; its ability to mitigate its own carbon footprint and assist us in reducing our environmental impact.
