Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The aim of this project was the development of a novel coating with a high resistance against wear and corrosion, optimum flexibility and a rich adhesion on substrate and could maintain its indentity in salt rich, humid and highly pathetic environment. Epoxy resin is chosen for our present study owing to its exceptional combination of properties such as easy processing, high safety, excellent solvent and chemical resistance, toughness, low shrinkage on cure, good electrical, mechanical and c orrosion resistance with excellent adhesion to many substrates. Phenalkamines and polyamides have shown exceptionally good results when used for adhesives and other coating application ; simultaneously they are having good low temperature curing properties under damp conditions and that is why they are considered here for marine application too. Corrosion conditions are being created for test evaluation and simulated results may prove a path in developing novel curing agent for marine related application. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : This paper is an attempt to freeze momentarily in time a continuously and rapidly changing field of study which, to say the least, is highly complex. Even the descriptive terminology pertaining to this type of investigation is mercurial, ranging from physiochemical to chemorheological to the even more abtuse designation, chemoprocessing . To put the reader at ease with the subject, a short historical introduction is therefore in order. The uv-curing of epoxyacrylate resin systems involves photochemical processes . Thus an understanding of their chemical and physical characteristics before ,during, and after processing is prerequisite to their successful application. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Bisphenol-A epoxy resin have certain inherent drawbacks. the limitation could be overcome by replacing them with multifunctional epoxy resins such as epoxy phenol novolac (EPN) and epoxy cresol novolac (ECN) resins. Synthesis and characterization of EPN and ECN has been discussed. ECN resin were observed to be much superior so that a comprehensive study was made of the various coating properties such as drying time, hardness, adhesion, gloss, flexibility, skinning tendency, corrosion, impact-resistance and chemical resistance of cresol novolac epoxy cured with polyamide resin.
