Other film. The introduction and development of TIO, throughoutthe 20th century enabled the production of
high-quality and safe paints for both interior and exterior use. However, the manufacturing processes of TiO2 are relatively expensive, and so this pigment is often the most expensive raw material used in emulsion paints. Many techniques andadditives has been developed over the years to help improve the utilization of TiO2 and thus recduce the amount used, while rnairitaining paint performance properties. There has been contintious effort to replace part of the TiO2 with fine particle site extenders in paint formulations. A detailed study has been undertaken to replace pigment by various percentages of calcined clays ; kaolin, PCC (precipitated calcium carbonate), Calcium aluminium silicate in to latex paint formulations. Properties such as thixotropie hiding power, light fastness, film brightness, scrub resistance, and weather resistance have been deterrnined to establish the optimum use of these extenders in the paint formulation.Note de contenu : - INTRODUCTION : Sulfate process - Chloride process
